Truck Driving Career for Military Veterans

After returning from service to our country in the military, veterans can have a difficult time adjusting to the civilian lifestyle.

One of the hardest struggles is finding a suitable career to pursue. A career as a truck driver is often a great choice for military veterans because it is, in many ways, very similar to the military lifestyle and can also be very rewarding.

What makes truck driving such a great career choice for military veterans?

Truck companies are often more likely to hire military veterans because they are used to working in a highly disciplined environment, following strict schedules, meeting deadlines, and following through with their obligations. Additionally, veterans are likely easier to train than the standard employee, as they are accustomed to following orders and will adapt well to the new work environment.

For military veterans who have served our country after September 11, 2001, you can enroll in truck driving school to earn your commercial driver license (CDL) with absolutely no cost. Your CDL training will be paid for by the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill put in place by the United States government.

A career as a truck driver means a sense of regimentation and freedom that many veterans are accustomed too. It allows you to travel all over the country while completing vital tasks just as you were accustomed too in the military.

For more information about using the Post 9/11 GI Bill for CDL training or to apply, call us at 1-800-TRUCKER (1-800-878-2537) or fill out our application form here.
